Today is Monday, October 28th, 2024
● Mrs. Newell, Mrs. Galarowic, and Mrs. Livingston would like all the high school
student council members, officers, and representatives to meet with them at
12:15 PM in the homework lab on Wednesday, October 30th. If any class
advisors are available to join us, please come with your class. We will be making
plans for the Christmas Decor Palooza Day and discussing ideas and plans for
December.
● Today’s lunch is spaghetti with meatballs.

please sign up in the school office. This opportunity is for high school students

Here is the week's practice and game schedule for our HS Volleyball teams and MS Girls Basketball teams.
Unfortunately, you'll see that our football season has come to a close. Thank you, Coaches Barr, Causley, Tassier, and Miller for a terrific and action-packed season. And thank you to our players, and especially our seniors (Wes, Tim, Jackson, Cody, and Ross) for your dedication and hard work. You've given us all great memories to last us a lifetime!

Today is Friday, October 25th, 2024
● Tonight the Islanders Football Team will be in Cedarville tonight taking on
Onaway and on Saturday, the Islanders Girls Middle School Basketball Team will
be in Cedarville taking on Newberry. Go Islanders!!
● The Chippewa County Health Department will be in our building today to provide
hearing and vision screenings for some of our students. Hearing screenings will
be for kindergarten, 2nd, and 4th grade students. Vision screenings will be for
1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th, and 9th grade students. You will be notified when it is your turn
to be screened.
● Lost and Found: If you are missing a hoodie, please look at the coat rack outside
the multi-purpose room. If you are missing a pair of shoes from the dance, please
visit the school office.
● Today’s lunch is sloppy joes and chips.

Today, some of our DeTour High School students had the opportunity to visit Aplena Community College. They met with faculty members and explored the many programs they offer. Our students were very receptive and represented our school and community very well. Special thank you to Maddy at LSSU with the Gear Up program providing the opportunity.









MIDDLE SCHOOL GIRLS BASKETBALL SCHEDULE CHANGES!!!
This Saturday, October 26, the games against Newberry will now be played IN CEDARVILLE so the hallway floor in DeTour can be finished. Game time is still 10:00.
Also, the Monday, October 28, game is being RESCHEDULED for Wednesday, October 30, and will be played IN DETOUR. The 7th grade will play JKL at 5:30, and the 8th grade will play Brimley right after. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

DeTour Daily Announcements
Today is Tuesday, October 22nd, 2024
● Students who are attending the Alpena Community College trip tomorrow: We
will be departing at 7:30 AM. Drummond students will need to catch the 7:10 AM
boat. We will pick you up at the DeTour dock and then head to the school to pick
everyone else up. We are scheduled to depart ACC at 1:15 PM, which will place
us back in DeTour around 4:30 PM. Make sure to arrange for transportation
accordingly.
● Picture Retake Day is on Monday, November 18th.
● Today’s lunch is chicken quesadillas.

Happy Sunday, Islanders!
With our fall season winding down, we have a lot of great things happening!
First, congratulations to our MS and HS Cross Country teams on a successful season. Special shout out to Ethan Snyder who placed 4th in the D3 final yesterday in Munising...way to go, Ethan!!!
Our MS Girls Basketball teams are rolling along and playing some great ball. The Islanders Volleyball teams are busy working hard to prepare the Varsity for the postseason; and the Islanders Football team is hitting peak form as they get ready to be the first Islanders football team to make the Playoffs!!!
Below is our weekly schedule of practices and games. Please check out your child's schedule for the week. One noticable difference for our MSGBB parents is that this Saturday's game that WAS scheduled in DeTour is moved TO Cedarville so the finishing touches can be made to the hallway floors in DeTour.
Please know that arrangements are being made to switch the Oct. 28 game to DeTour from Cedarville. More information will be posted as those changes are made.

● Students who have signed up for the LSSU Gear-Up field trip to Alpena
Community College next Wednesday: Be sure to check your student email, Mr.
Deal sent you a link to the event registration form. Be sure to fill it out and
submit it no later than Sunday night. Thank you.

Parents Night for the Islanders volleyball program. Thank you to all the families who volunteer their time to help make this a great experience for our teams. You are greatly appreciated! A special thanks to our seniors for all the hardwork and dedication.


Congratulations to the JV Islanders volleyball team. They beat Brimley this evening in two straight games. 🏐


There will be a bus to take the 8th Grade Girls Bball team to Brimley tonight. The bus leaves DeTour at 4:30, and will pick up Cedarville at 5:00.

● The Islanders Cross Country Team will be traveling to St. Ignace. The Regional
Meet starts at 4:00 PM.
● If you are interested in attending the Alpena Community College Gear-Up visit
through LSSU this Thursday, 10/17, and have turned in the required forms,
please sign up in the office by the end of today.
● LSSU's Pre College Information session will be held on Wednesday, December
4, 2024. The registration deadline is November 27th. A link to sign up has been
sent to your school email account by Mr. Deal on Tuesday, October 8
th
. The Pre
College Invitational is an opportunity for 9th-11th grade EUP students interested
in attempting dual and/or concurrent enrollment, or Early Middle College at LSSU
sometime in the future. This event is open to school staff, students and parents.
Parents can stay for the morning/lunch portion but may not attend the
lab/classroom experiences.
● Today’s lunch is potato soup and a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

St. Ignace. and the Islanders Cross Country Team will be in Pickford for a
Conference Meet. Go Islanders!!
● The homework lab is opening today for Middle School and High School Students.
It will be open every Monday through Thursday from 3:30 to 5:30 PM, on days
when students are in attendance.
● LSSU's Pre College Information session will be held on Wednesday, December

another school, you need to complete a Dance Guest Request form and

Wednesday, 10/16. Forms are available in the school office. You do not
need to fill the form out for Cedarville students.

The Islanders 8th Grade Girls Basketball team will be traveling to Brimley tomorrow, October 16. Game time is approximately 6:30. We are working to get the team a bus. Stay tuned.
