Detour Daily Announcement 1-7-2026

The 7th grade Islanders girl's basketball team took on the Rudyard Bulldogs this evening. They came out victorious, winning 23 to 8.

Because of the amount of snow that we've received since yesterday. DeTour Area Schools and DATA will be on a 2 hour delay today. Please plan accordingly, please drive safely

Due to tonight and tomorrow's weather forecast, ALL Islanders practices for Monday, January 29th are cancelled. We will assess Tuesday's practices tomorrow and let you all know. Hunker down and be safe!!!

Merry Christmas, Islanders! Here is our upcoming week's practice schedule. Please make sure your kiddo lets their coach know if they are unable to attend practice. Have a great weekend!!

Good evening...for those of you whose student signed up to go skiing tomoorrow at Nubs Nob, Ms. Bennett has the following message:

Hello!

I just wanted to make sure everybody knows that the ski trip is still on for tomorrow and Aleisha will be picking up off the 10:10 boat! Please email me if you have any questions!

If you’re getting picked up at the school, be there by 10:00
If you’re getting picked up at the Albany, be there by 10:30.

Basketball December 19

Detour Area Schools and Detour Arts and Technology Academy will be closed tomorrow, Friday, December 19th. This is due to the projected poor weather conditions of ice and wind making driving dangerous during the morning commute. All athletic activities scheduled for Friday evening will be determined later in the day tomorrow. Once again, DeTour Area Schools and DATA will be closed tomorrow, Friday, December 19th. Thank you

Western Great Lakes Pilots Association has kindly donated Stem related Christmas Presents to all of the DATA Elementary students. Thank you so much for thinking about our kids!!

The students at DATA and DHS held a Food Drive War for the 22nd year in a row to collect non-perishable food items for our local food banks. This year, they collected over 400 items that were delivered and will help local families this holiday season and throughout the winter. Our K/1, 7th, and 10th grade classes had the largest donations and have won an ice cream party when we return from our holiday break. Great job, students!!!

Good afternoon...for many of you making holiday travel plans, here are the practice schedules for the next two weeks. Please make sure your athletes know to contact their coaches if they will be out of town and unable to attend practice. We will notify you of any changes should they occur.

Good morning...the JV and Varsity basketball games against Lake Leelanau St. Mary's that were cancelled on December 13 have been moved to Saturday, February 7...still in DeTour...still starting at 11:00.

Drummond Island Elementary had their annual Christmas concert this evening. Under the direction of Mrs. Sunderman, the students did a fantastic job. Thank you to all of the family and friends who attended. Merry Christmas!

This morning Mrs. Harbaugh's K-1 students came to visit Mrs. Livingston's 7th grade class. The middle school students shared the mystery books that they had written and illustrated.

Good morning...our 7th Grade girls will be playing Pickford tonight at 5:30, before our 8th Grade girls play St. Ignace. See you in Cedarville at 5:30! (Melanie will be taking the girls to Cedarville today at 4:15 and will bring home anyone who needs a ride.)
