The DeTour High School Freshmen and Senior classes are selling caramel apples to raise funds for their classes. The cost is $5 per apple, either plan or with peanuts. Contact a class member or Mrs. Newell or Mrs. Galarowic to place an order. Thank you!

Tomorrow is the beginning of the school year!
First and foremost, I would like to welcome everyone back and look forward to a great year!
As a reminder, tomorrow is our first day of school. It is a half day for everyone and ends at 11:30am. Again, school will be dismissed tomorrow at 11:30am.
For Drummond Island parents: The parking lot has been expanded. Please park only on the gravel and leave plenty of room for the bus to make the turn out of school.
For DeTour parents and students: Be advised the road heading into the school is now a one way with all traffic entering off St. Mary’s St and exiting on South Caribou Lake road. In addition, please be patient as we finalize the bond project work from this summer. Everyone is working very hard to get everything completed. Your patience is greately appreciated
Once again, we look forward to getting a great start to the new year.
Have a great rest of your evening.

Update: As of today, all student active directory and email passwords have been updated. You’ll receive a new one along with your chromebooks next week. We apologize for the inconvenience as this was an unanticipated development!
For our Juniors and Seniors participating in duel-enrollment classes: We understand that some of you may require access to your student account email before Tuesday. If this is the case, please call our main line, 906-297-2011, and leave a message on my voicemail (Mr. Deal) indicating this. I’ll call you back as soon as possible for identity verification, and will then supply you with your new password.
Have a fantastic Labor Day weekend - See you next week!

The 20 Time Project. To help inspire innovation and creativity. Google developed the idea and offered employees 20% of their time to work on a project of their choosing that enriched the world around them. Mrs. Livingston took this concept and put to work in her classroom. Today 8th grade students presented their 20 Time Project to the rest of the school. Each project was unique and creative.

The Solar Eclipse is coming next Monday, 4/8/24. Peak viewing for the solar eclipse will be at 3:15pm. We urge parents to educate your children about safe viewing practices, including the use of certified solar viewing glasses or pinhole projectors. Thank you to our local library for providing solar eclipse glasses to all of our students. Extra eclipse glasses may be picked up at the local library. Supervision of younger children during the eclipse is advised. Remember, not looking directly at the solar eclipse is best practice just like we don’t look directly at the sun.

Our middle and high school students had a fantastic experience participating in the LSSU Pi day math competition this week! They formed four teams (two HS - two MS) and engaged in a series of high level, fast paced sessions. The competition was strong, but they held their own, both finishing in the top half of the 28 competing teams. Great job everyone, we're proud of you!

It appears that 2 calendars have been put out for general consumption and there may be some confusion. Please know that our official return to school day after Springbreak is Monday 1 April. Please forgive us for any confusion.

Thirteen of our 10th and 11th graders that had registered to attend, along with their Cedarville HS counterparts, had an engaging and informative experience on their field trip at the Career Center in the Soo! They were given a brief tour of each program offered, followed by an extended session with the head instructor of the field that interested them. Those that are interested and who's grades/schedules allow, will have an opportunity to attend CTE courses during their Junior and Senior year.

Good evening, ladies and gentlemen, and the fine learners of our districts. Having just spoken to both teams at the county garages. DeTour Area Schools/DATA will be closed tomorrow, 1/10/2024. Nasty roads, high winds, blowing snow, and dropping temps are the reasons. Includes CTE and The Learning Center. Please Share!
